The Codification and Treatment of Emotional Abuse in Structured Group Therapy

Yesterday was a vote for women, for our children, and for democracy. It was a vote against election deniers and authoritarianism. Authoritarianism thrives when children are not given permission to have their own feelings and develop their own ideas — to think for themselves -- as they grow and mature. To deny this expression constitutes a dangerous pattern of emotional abuse. Another pattern of emotional abuse occurs when children are overindulged — when they are raised to believe they are the center of the universe — without regard for or sensitivity to others:
